Sighthound Collar in Petrol Blue

£39

Our sighthound collar design is based on a traditional “Fishtail” style template, however, we’ve extended the wider part of the collar to offer extra protection around your dog’s neck. This has been particularly useful for our whippet when he decides to take flight after seeing a squirrel!

The classic sighthound collar is handmade in our workshop from the finest, 100% vegetable tanned, full grain black leather from Walpier, in a range of fantastic colours. This is paired with equally premium, British made solid brass or nickel-plated brass roller buckle, rivets and D ring. The hardware is very sturdy for even the most wilful of dogs and is rustproof.

The leather collar will evolve over time with wear as the dog’s oils are absorbed creating a beautiful and unique patina, an ongoing record of your adventures in a way.

Please note, leather is a natural product so there may be small variations in colour and markings.

Check the sighthound collar size guide to find the perfect fit for your dog.

Our leathers will naturally evolve over time with a gorgeous patina effect as different oils and life are absorbed. That said, if you do need to clean it, please follow the below guidelines to ensure a long lasting product.

    • If you get the leather wet, let it dry naturally. Don’t put it on a radiator.
    • Before drying, wipe with a damp cloth to clean off any dirt.
    • Once dry, ideally apply either Neats foot oil or a leather cream in small circles using a soft cotton cloth.
    • Leave to dry and remove any excess residue.
    • This process can also be used to help remove or reduce any unwanted scratches or wear from the leather.
    • Always remove the collar before applying flea treatments as these products can damage the leather and/or paint finish when wet

Please note, leather is a natural product and when dyed, some colours can leech if they become wet. It rarely happens, however, if any, most likely with the red leather. Although the dye is totally harmless, if you have a white or light coloured dog that enjoys splashing in water it may stain their fur initially. Collar Size Guide

One of the benefits of having a handmade collar is that every collar we make is tailored to fit your dog’s neck perfectly, with a little room either side to tighten or loosen giving you options if needed.

To measure your collar size either use an existing collar you’re happy with or simply use a tape measure, wrap it around the dog’s neck as shown in the picture. Measurements run from the butt of the collar (The buckle end not including the buckle itself) to the holes the other end. The middle hole should be the one ideally used.

Measuring For a Sighthound dog collar

      Step 1

If you have a sighthound such as an Italian Greyhound, Whippet, lurcher or Greyhound, rather than measuring around the middle of the neck, wrap the tape measure so that it is fairly snug, just behind the ears and under the chin at the top of the neck.

      Step 2

As with our classic collars would recommend that you choose the collar size where the middle hole is perfect, the additional holes either side offer options for tighter or looser if needed. If your dog’s neck doesn’t quite fit with our standard sizes please let us know and we can make a bespoke collar to your exact needs. Let us know by dropping us a note to bespoke@CocoandBlu.co.uk
